Job Description
Position Title: District Curriculum/Grant Administrator
Job Goals:
- Coordinate
curriculum development, implementation and assessment.
- Assist
with staff professional development.
- Secure,
manage and coordinate grant program funds.
Duties and
Performance Responsibilities:
- Coordinate
and guide the ongoing review, development, implementation and evaluation
processes of curriculum and instruction.
- Provide
leadership in the study, evaluation and interpretation of current trends
in curriculum.
- Meet
regularly with the Leadership Team.
- Monitor
the professional development program for the district.
- Create
and maintain a professional library.
- Network
with neighboring districts and professional organizations.
- Serve
as resource for grant preparation, management and evaluation.
- Study
federal legislation, special projects, and programs for the possibilities
and opportunities they offer for educational grants, entitlements, and
allocations offered relevant to the needs of the district.
- Remain
up-to-date on changing laws and requirements regarding federal and special
funds available to schools.
- Obtain
information, data, and application forms necessary to fulfill the
requirements of applications.
- Assume
responsibility for writing project proposals to be submitted to the State
Department of Education or other designated agencies for approval in the
manner required by law.
- Coordinate
the activities of the components of the projects.
- Prepare
and administer projects’ budgets in cooperation with the district
Superintendent of Schools and the Business Manager.
- Keep
records of requisitions, ordering, budget expenditures, and inventory of
equipment as necessary for each project.
- Prepare
reports concerning the districts’ involvement with federally or special
funded projects for the Superintendent and the Board of Trustees.
- Compile
and maintain written records and reports on results of federal and special
projects, and disseminate this information, as appropriate, to other educational
institutions, the State Department of Education, and the U.S. Department
of Education.
Curriculum Development

Administers K-12 curriculum development,
including curricular alignment, assessment, professional development and
materials acquisition
·
Provides information, directs and facilitates
team members as they formulate instructional improvements
·
Assists and coordinates committee selection of
instructional materials by engaging the direct involvement of principals and
teacher
Program Evaluation and
Quality Assurance
·
Provides continuous evaluation through regular
on-site visits
·
Measures program growth and assesses progress
using local, state and national standards
·
Maintains and monitors timelines for periodic
review of instructional materials, in compliance with state standards
·
Assures compliance with Montana Board of Public
Education accreditation standards
Collaboration
and Team Building
·
Provides leadership in curricular development
and implementation
·
Helps build teams by offering leadership and
direction to schools
·
Engages school principals in all areas of
curricular and instructional accountability
Dissemination
of Information
·
Works closely with District administration
·
Interprets District programs for the community
·
Provides curricular information to teachers and
principals as needed
Administrative
Responsibilities
·
Supervises administrative support personnel in
conjunction with the Superintendent
·
Develops and administers curriculum,
professional development and instructional services budget
·
Administers federal educational programs.
Qualifications:
- Masters
degree in education with emphasis in curriculum and instruction,
preferred.
- Holds
or is eligible to obtain specialist certification, preferred.
- Teaching/administrative
experience, preferred.
- Possesses
knowledge of current research trends in school improvement, curriculum and
instruction and assessment.
- Understands
effective models of professional development and characteristics of
effective schools.
- Possesses
knowledge of learning theories, effective teaching and assessment
practices.
- Broad
understanding of curricular issues as applied to public/private education.
- Empathic
approach to dealing with a wide variety of educational situations and
personnel related issues.
Reports to:
District
Superintendent of Schools
Terms of Employment:
Twelve
months per year, 225 days.
