Notice of Annual School and Special District Election

There are three candidates running for the two open trustee positions for District 30-2. Below are the biographies for each candidate.

Rev. Dr. Matthew W. Connally (D.Min.)
“Pastor Matthew” serves as the pastor of the Pablo Church of the Nazarene (and the satellite campus, Movement, in Polson). He is an active member of the Ronan/Pablo communities and has lived in the Mission Valley since January, 2015. He has served as a substitute teacher in the Ronan School District since 2016 and thoroughly enjoys building relationships and interacting with the kids. He especially enjoys conducting the middle and high school bands during practice when the opportunity arises. Pastor Matthew and his family have been highly involved with Pablo Elementary where his two children attend, and his wife, Jamie, works as a paraprofessional. Pastor Matthew has a deep love for the community, loves to build relationships with people, and will bring a conservative and common-sense viewpoint to this position.
Kevin R. Detwiler, D.V.M.

Kevin Detwiler is a veterinarian at Mission Valley Veterinary Clinic where he has worked most of his career since he graduated from WSU in 1982 and is the current owner since 1994. He works with both large and small animals here in the valley. Kevin and his wife Debbie have raised 5 children here, all are graduates of Ronan School District #30. Their 2 oldest children have graduated from college and 3 kids are currently in college. Kevin and Debbie have been active in the school district with kids participating in many sports and activities; they are 10+ year Show Choir and Jazz Band parents. Kevin has had the opportunity to chaperone on several occasions for Show Choir and Jazz Band tours. Over the years, Kevin has spoken to students at K. William Harvey Elementary as well as Ronan middle and high schools for lunch and learn sessions and career days about careers in veterinary medicine. He has also been a participant in science night at K. William Harvey Elementary. Kevin & Debbie have been active members of the the Lutheran Church in Ronan for over 40 years.

Kevin has been serving on the board of trustees for 6 years. During that time, he has served on the negotiations and calendar committees. Kevin has found the time spent serving the community as a School Board Trustee to be very interesting and rewarding, serving and caring for the needs of our students as well as the needs of parents & the community. The last 2 years with the COVID pandemic being a concern for many people, Kevin was glad to be part of the district’s successful, common-sense approach to dealing with the situation. We kept our students in the classroom as much as possible where they can learn to their full potential and develop socially. As a business owner for over 30 years, Kevin will continue to bring a realistic & common-sense attitude to his duties as a School Board Trustee in Montana.

Diana Luke
My name is Diana Luke and I am running for my second term on the Board of Trustees for the Ronan School District #30.  I was born and raised west of Ronan and graduated from Ronan High School.  I went on to attemd Montana State University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in agriculture.  I moved back to the area and began working with Lake County Environmental Health as a Registered Sanitarian and am now the Director.  I am married to Ken Luke who works for the Transportation Department, a step-mother to three adult daughters who all graduated from Ronan High School, and a mother to one Ronan Middle Schooler.  Our family is active in Lake County 4-H and the Polson Presbyterian Church.  I joined the Board because I was interested in the health and welfare of our students and staff.  I have served on the Building/Ground and Transportation Committee.   I have learned that there are many aspects to serving on the board that I was not fully aware of as a member of the public.  I would like to continue to served the public of School District #30.
